1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, use our services, or contact us for support. This includes:
- Your name, email address, and university
- Your year in school, major, and self-reported study preferences collected during onboarding
- Study session data including timestamps, durations, and the educational websites visited
- Assignment information you enter manually or import through your school calendar feed
- Your school calendar feed URL if you choose to connect it, along with the assignment titles and due dates it contains
- Usage patterns and interactions within the Oumie platform
- The domain name of all websites visited while the Oumie extension is active (e.g. "youtube.com", "docs.google.com") — no page content, no full URLs, and no text from any page is ever read or stored
- Activity category for each browsing session: study, research, entertainment, or social
- Tab titles on supported study sites only (Canvas, Google Docs, Brightspace, and similar), used solely to match your study session to an imported assignment
The Oumie Chrome extension automatically records which sites you visit while it is active. On supported study sites, the extension also reads the current tab title for the purpose of matching your session to an assignment from your imported calendar. On all other sites, only the domain name and time spent are recorded — no page content, no full URLs, and no text from any page is ever accessed or stored. Session data collected includes the site name, session duration (with idle time excluded automatically), and activity category. This data is stored on Oumie's servers and used exclusively to generate your personal study insights and pattern analytics. It is never shared with third parties.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Power your personal study dashboard and generate insights about your study habits
- Calculate your Focus Score and track your streaks and progress over time
- Generate personalized assignment time estimates based on your historical study patterns
- Send you deadline reminders and notifications for upcoming assignments
- Improve the accuracy and usefulness of our features over time
- Respond to your support requests and communicate with you about your account
3. How We Protect Your Data
We take the security of your data seriously. All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. Passwords are never stored in plain text and are protected using industry-standard hashing. Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure with access controls in place. We do not sell your personal data to anyone, ever. Your study data exists to serve you and only you.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties, except as necessary to:
- Operate and improve our services (e.g., cloud hosting providers)
- Comply with legal obligations
- Respond to legal process or government requests
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of Oumie or others
If Oumie enters into partnerships with universities in the future, any data shared will be fully anonymized and aggregated. We will never share your individual data with your university, your professors, or any institution without your explicit written consent. You will always be informed before any new data sharing arrangements take effect.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access all the personal data we hold about you at any time
- Correct any inaccurate information in your account
- Delete your account and all associated data permanently through your account settings
- Disconnect your school calendar feed at any time, which removes all synced assignment data
- Opt out of notifications and non-essential communications
- Contact us with any questions or concerns about how your data is handled
6. Calendar Data
If you choose to connect your school calendar by providing an ICS feed URL, Oumie will periodically fetch that URL to sync your assignment titles and due dates. This URL is stored securely and is only used to retrieve your calendar data. You can disconnect your calendar at any time from the Calendar page, which will immediately delete all synced assignment data from our servers. We do not access any other part of your school account and cannot see your grades, submissions, or any information beyond what your calendar feed contains.
7. Cookies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience. Essential cookies are required for the application to function. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings or by contacting us.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by sending an email or displaying a notice on our platform. Your continued use of Oumie after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
9. Contact Us
